They made this before I started at Blue Sky so I can’t say that any of these cameras are mine.
Tilt-shift photographs are pictures taken with what would traditionally be considered a broken lens. The film plate is not perpendicular to the light coming in from the lens and creates an artificially narrow depth of field. This technique was used in Thom Yorke’s video for “Harrowdown Hill”.
Oh, Instructables, we have become so close this past year… one-sided-ly… Actually, this latest project came directly from Dennis Halvena’s website, but Instructables gave me a more illustrated angle that ended up helping quite a bit.
Ho hum, another post from Make. I saw this the other day, and being a happy DS owner and a happy “homebrew solution” owner, this made me… happy.

My favorite so far is Protein[DS].

So I was reminded today of the fact that I never posted anything about the Jamie Lidell video I recently worked on. This is from Jamie’s newest album, Jim.
Here is another project that just rang all of my bells as soon as I saw it. MAKE has a post for this beat sequencer made from some custom software, a webcam, a table surface, and some beer caps. I’m going to go dig up my old Logitech eyeball when I get home…
There was a great post on Instructables about making a big lamp from Ikea Lampan lamps. I was, of course, set on making it as soon as possible. I’m not going to detail how I made it, because, frankly, it went exactly as the Instructables post went. Here’s what it ended up looking like:
So, here is the video I was working on. I hope you all like it.
Production on the video continues. We just did a test today to see how the CG will work with the live action stuff. So far, so awesome. I’m not going to post anything here until the final thing comes out cuz I don’t have rights to half of the material. Delivery date is august 10th, but we are hoping to buy a week of more time so that we can do all four shots of my creature, rather than just one.
Totally different topic, installed Vista on my laptop. Crapfest. Absolute crapfest. I’m reinstalling Ubuntu this very moment.
I recant, Vista is actually pretty good… if you have a $1500 machine running it…
I’m working on a couple shots for the new video from a certain band. This alien is going to come out of a live-action girl’s mouth. Modeled in Zbrush and rendered in Maya. Now on to rigging and drool effects.
